Artist's Statement about this work: There is great concentration on the faces of these girls. They are up on stage learning the hand motions for a hula. There is great beauty and grace in the cance motions of the hula and some of the performers invited children up on the stage to perform while they knelt down in front of the state leading with the hand motions. I tried to capture the moment in this painting, two young girls from Mongolia learning the ancient dance of Hawaii.

Artist's Statement about this work: A crisp winter day in Utah. The contrast of the white snow and the warm tinted surroundings always inspires me to paint. Utah appears at it's artistic best in the depth of winter.

Artist's Statement about this work: Painted this crossing after visiting the National Battlefield Park near Sharpsburg, Maryland. This now peaceful stone bridge stands in what was once the site of one of the bloodiest days of battle in the history of The Civil War.

Artist's Statement about this work: This painting was inspired by a high alpine hike in the Wind River Range in Wyoming. It was the end of August, and the oranges and purples of the alpine plants hinted at what was soon to follow in the valleys.

Artist's Statement about this work: This painting evokes memories of Bellingham Bay and the San Juan Islands in Washington and the coastline of Acadia National Park in Maine. I went to college in Bellingham, Washington, and my husband has family in Maine, so this view ties together fond memories of family in both places. Whenever I try to paint one place, it ends up looking like the other, tying together the east and west coasts.

Artist's Statement about this work: This year's spring rain caused the Gunlock Reservoir to overflow causing flooding down the sandstone sides. The green water gushing down the red sandstone made for a seldom seen sight.
